HYBRID
'the offspring of two animals or plants of a different species… a composite word formed of elements belonging to different languages:' (The shorter Oxford English Dictionary). |
We are now a group of five women artists who are also art therapists. We live in Bristol and work under the collective name ‘Hybrid’ to reflect the two different parts of our identities. As Art Therapists we facilitate the creative self-expression of the children and adults with whom we work. As artists we maintain a practice that both supports our professional work and allows us to continue our own creative journeys. This includes regular meet-ups to make art and plan exhibitions together.
We sometimes exhibit ‘work in progress’ and we have often worked to a theme with a curator. Our exhibitions typically include drawings, paintings, mixed media, prints, etchings and ceramics. Working and exhibiting together feels supportive and creative. While three of us are now retired, the group continues to reflect a dynamic engagement with, and commitment to both art-making and art therapy.
All of us have exhibited regularly throughout our careers in a range of solo and group shows as well as local artists trails. Our 2023 exhibition explores ‘colour’ (see 'current work' for more information).
Individual contact details are on the home page or... if you'd like to contact us all please do that on the form below.
